Dirty Dike and Jam Baxter Go From Rough To Smooth on “Permanent Midnight”

Through a solid 3 year hiatus, MC and producer Dirty Dike has seemingly been chipping away and experimenting with new styles and flows. The success of his last album ‘Sucking On Prawns In The Moonlight’, stemmed from the varied production and lyricism, providing an overall extensive view in to Dike’s psyche. His latest offering ‘Permanent Midnight’ allows him to be more progressively minded, effortlessly in tune with the current direction of the UK Hip-Hop scene.

A trademark eerie and atmospheric soundtrack provided by the scarily consistent Chemo gave Dirty Dike the perfect backdrop to tell a few stories throughout various stages in his life. ‘Permanent¬†Midnight‘ allowed him to retrieve some of the rowdy lyrics and flows we’ve been accustomed to throughout various stages of his career. The single is assisted by a hook that actually makes sense, a rarity in hip hop, by iconic lyricist and fellow ‘Contact Play’ member, Jam Baxter. It allows the track to progress while rightfully giving Dirty Dike the limelight. It will be interesting to see what he conjures up next with an album on the horizon.
