London YG Releases His Debut EP Cold Summers
London YG's long-awaited project arrives in the form of Cold Summers, an EP stuffed with saucy hooks and slick wordplay from the pensive spitter.

London YG is a relatively new artist in the city’s music scene. His oldest sonic footprint traces back to a 2014 freestyle over Drake’s “0 to 100”, recorded under the name MALIXLDN. A few years later, however, under a new alias, the once pensive artist has come of age and elevated his sound in the process. Today London YG returns with his brand new release Cold Summers. With cuts such as “Sleeping Bag”, “Corner” and, lead single “Voltz”, he leans away from the mellow vibrations of “Versus” and towards a moody sing-song rap aesthetic. Brace yourself.

In this chilling reawakening, you receive the best of both worlds and experience life from the south London rapper’s angle. The 7-track EP features London YG alternating from starry, sub-bass soundscapes on “Gangs On Tour”, and slow-burning chords, on the cloudy interlude “Half Time”. The title Cold Summers isn’t just a clever oxymoron, but a score for late night drives (cold) and complicated love affairs (summer).

The release features crisp production throughout from Ghxst, Cxdy and Cranium Rose, and also boasts a guest appearance from singer Enkay Rockson. London YG oozes charisma, dropping saucy hooks while shooting wordplay fit for a sturdy spitter. He exceeds his potential at the deep into the second set with the standout “Voltz”, a golden performance over sultry keys and warm R&B tones that translate well cohesively.
