Piers James Drops Carnival-Ready House Bubbler “PON DEM”

“PON DEM” is one of those tracks you hear and the vibes instantly take over your body. In short, its a certified hit. Something that Piers James has become well acquainted with — even if the YouTube views don’t currently reflect this. “PON DEM” comes off the back of “Done Properly”, which was released earlier this year. The track shows the side of Piers James that is lyrically astute, whilst he confidently flows over a head-nodding thumper of a beat. To be honest, lyrical word play is what the UK rapper is largely known for, as well as repping Ipswich to the fullest — a city which is currently bubbling with artistic creatives.

Piers James exhibits this artistic prowess in his latest track “PON DEM”, proving to be a triple threat in terms of producing, co-directing and performing the track.  He comes in on the track, easy as a Sunday morning, smoothly singing the chorus, “I was on a vibe when I run up pon dem”. This vibe is carried through the bouncy house production, with its warped synths that fill your spirit with waves of good energy. The video only adds to the overall aesthetics of the cut, with co-director Reece Selvadorai helping the viewer to visualise the in-explainable aura that Piers radiates, as we are blessed with scenes of the artist skanking out on a sky-lit mountaintop in Barcelona. For me, “PON DEM” is a work of art and firmly puts Piers James up there as an artist to keep an eye on.
