The UK is currently in the midst of a major R&B resurgence, mostly thanks to the rallying cry of female talents such as Midland’s Jorja Smith and North London’s Taliwhoah who’re making serious noise throughout the country and abroad. With respect to those names, Manchester’s IAMDBB might be the most fully formed prospect of any of her peers. 2017’s Hoodrich Vol 3 EP was a coming out party for the young songstress, and with Red Bell Music assisting in what’s sure to be a sold out string of shows this April, 2018 might be her coronation.
From the 16th to the 19th, IAMDDB will be performing in London, Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol, looking to create something similar to the raucous scenes in her latest video “Conjuring” by having touches like all black and all red dresscodes as part of the curation. Hopefully this extended run of exposure coincides with the release of Flightmode Vol 4, the body of work ‘Flightmode Live’ takes its name from. So far, IAMDBB has proved a savvy operator when it comes to dropping music; with a heightened buzz from rave show reviews, and the added bonus of great new material filtering through social media, she could create the perfect storm necessary for whatever passes for a bidding war these days in the upcoming weeks.
