British singer-songwriter Mahalia has unveiled the video to her newest heartfelt single ‘Proud of Me’ featuring fantastic rapper and fellow UK talent Little Simz. Much like her debut single ‘Sober’, this track is as sweet as it is catchy, and very wholehearted, with Mahalia using the hook to thank her parents and family for playing such a huge part in her success by inspiring her to pick up a guitar in the first place. The latest single comes off the back of her opening up for another amazing R&B newcomer from the Midlands, Jorja Smith, and Mahalia will be commencing her own headline tour this month!
Filmed in her home city of Leicester and surrounded by friends throughout, the video for ‘Proud Of Me’ feels like a very sincere and triumphant moment for the twenty year old, who shares how she began making music from the age of thirteen, recapping her journey thus far through short snippets from interviews. A heavy dramatic bass flows constantly throughout the track, mellowing out at every verse, giving her vocals and lyrics center stage to stand out, before a crescendo into the unfeigned emotional chorus. Little Simz extra special guest appearance is the frosting on the cake for me, and I’d love to see more collaborations from the pair in future. Tickets are selling out fast, with most shows already sold out, so act fast and don’t miss out on what will be an exceptional performance by one of the UK’s fast rising stars.
